Smell is our most powerful sense.

or generates a more intense response that our sense of smell.
Case Study
Liz is a Middle School teacher. She loves her job, but it’s very demanding. During the school day, she gets stressed and her students become frazzled, especially during testing. She was looking for something to help soothe the energy in her classroom and help her wind down in the evening.
I custom blended her a Balancing Mist of Orange, Peppermint and Lavender to help her and her students stay calm, alert and focused. For the evening, Liz bathed in Epson salts infused with Ylang Ylang and Lavender.
This was one of the techniques I used to help Liz create the best year of teaching she’d ever had.
Here are 7 tips to boost your health and happiness level by exploring your sense of smell.
- Aromatherapy enhances your health and well-being a multiple of ways. Different aromatherapy scents stimulate our nasal passages and stimulate parts of the brain that trigger emotional or physical responses. The healing properties of essential oils enter the bloodstream through either the lungs or topically from the skin.
- Aromatherapy is the oldest "New Age" concept around. It dates back thousands of years, traced back through Egyptian and then Chinese culture. It has been used to heal wounds and attract love.
- Make sure you buy pure essential oils which are derived from plants and do not contain any artificial or perfume scents. Some oils can come into contact with the skin and some need to be diluted with pure vegetable oil before coming into contact with your skin.
- Use Lavender to carry your cares away.Place a fine quality French Lavender on a cotton ball and put in your pillow case. The scent will relax you and lull you into a deep and restful sleep.
- Use Lemon or Orange for a quick pick-me-up.Place Lemon or Orange on a cotton ball and carry it in a zip lock bag. As you hit that mid-afternoon slump, take a few deep breaths and reinvigorate yourself quickly and naturally.
- Basil oil can help boost your mood and relieve headaches. No wonder we love Italian food so much!
- Sandalwood and Rose oil are aphrodisiacs.Spice up your libido and harvest a wealth of relaxation and good feelings.
Here’s a handy guide for you to cut out and use as a reminder.
